Deaconess Abundant Life Services (DALS) celebrates 10 years of providing in-home care to seniors, serving over 1,200 clients with 1.9 million hours of care. DALS, led by clinicians, offers personalized services, supporting seniors to age in place. The agency plans to expand and innovate to meet evolving senior needs.

“I am proud to be part of a not-for-profit organization that prioritizes excellence in care for both our clients and our caregivers. We are an organization lead by clinicians with over a combined 100 years in senior care. Our nurses are the integral piece of the puzzle in supporting our clients, their families and our caregivers to ensure that the care we provide exceeds expectations.”

Training is a top priority at Deaconess Abundant Life Services. Each new caregiver we hire is required to attend a 5-hour orientation before they start, which includes a 2.5 hour clinical training with one of our experienced Nurse Care Managers. Additionally, each caregiver on our team is required to complete an online training module every month for continuing education. The training platform used is called Home Care Pulse which has a database of over 600 training modules in different caregiving topics.

DALS has also utilized the Home Care Pulse training platform to provide growth for caregivers. There are six different specialty training pathways that a caregiver can elect to take. These specialty pathways include ADLs, Safety, Cooking, Engagement, Hospice & Dementia Care. Since the launch of this program in the beginning of 2023, DALS is proud to say their caregivers have completed over a combined 250 learning pathways.

The training does not stop there. Four members of our office team have been certified to teach Person-Centered Dementia Care: A Habilitation Therapy Curriculum through the Alzheimer’s Association. We hold an all day training every month for our caregivers to ensure they are up-to-date on the best-practices in dementia care. We have also developed our own in-person hospice training program in an effort to make sure our clients are receiving the best care at end-of-life.

As we look toward the future, DALS is exploring new ways to leverage cutting-edge technology to enhance services, offer more options, smarter solutions, and superior customer experiences. We are dedicated to empowering older adults to remain in their homes, enhancing their quality of life and preserving their independence. Our commitment is to provide the support they need to thrive in familiar surroundings.

Deaconess Abundant Life Services is the Greater Boston area’s only not-for-profit home care provider trusted by hospitals, healthcare providers and families since 2014.
